Antenna options, cannot attach to building.

Post by frg7700 »

As stated, cannot permanently fix anything to the exterior of the building, yard space of about 20ft by 10ft where semi permanent structures are a possibility. What are my options?

Concrete a pole into the ground and attach an antenna to that. The pole can double up as a washing line pole.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

It depends on what you are going to use it for ? Is it to talk to the locals ? If so you want it vertical. For dx vertical or horizontal. Can't you put a flag pole up and use it as a antenna ? Even fake tv antenna like use the pole as the antenna with a fake tv antenna at top ? Lots of ways of doing it. Just got to make it look legit. If none of that is possible maybe use a drain pipe and hide a wire antenna behind it but only if it's plastic. You can make a t2lt out of rg58 coax and hide that behind a drain pipe. It will work but you will have limited range.

You could also use a cast iron parasol base, with some sandbags around it, or if it's a concrete base, fasten it down.
Aluminium tube and a silver rod etc.

if you are only using the radio whilst the car is parked up, you can get a drive-on base to slot a scaff pole into. a few guy ropes for safety and you're good-to-go.

The one I have even tilts to make it easier to put up/down

Funny story, I was on holiday in Wales last year and took the chance to find a local high spot overlooking the coast. Found this great car park and I was working into NI and all the way up the west coast, brilliant..... then a local lad told me it was a notorious dogging spot! haha.

Well, thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

I heard that the bloke in the shop asked where he was planning on using this drive-on aerial mount, and after being told it was for use on this particular dogging site, he said he recommended something that would give him an almost instant erection.
