Realistic trc 207 handheld UK

Post by Shaun_C »

Hello I recently picked up a really nice trc 207 handheld cb on ebay (UK) as I have recently started collecting a few vintage handhelds. It is boxed and in mint condition however, I I think it is on USA cb frequency as its not working correctly.

When I couldnt get it to transmit or receive properly with my other radios I realised its receipt, manual etc was US and it does not have the UK 27/81 on the front  my bad really.

It does seem to work great and is a real beauty so my question is can I get this working on UK FM?

Wouldn't be worth the hassle/cost. Flog it again and get more UK stuff (look out for the all-important 27/81 stamp).

Thanks for the responses, thats a shame it would have been a nice addition to the collection and was a bargain.

I had one not long ago, like yours it was mint and boxed (and cheap in amongst a job-lot of stuff). There's nothing wrong with collecting handhelds in general, but where do you draw the line? You'll be collecting dozens more if you venture into AM or mid-block FM territory and may not have the space or finances for that too. That's the reason I've sold AM, EU-band handhelds before now as I just collect the odd 27/81 handheld myself, but mainly the earlier ones.

There's not a single AM radio amongst that lot ;)

I have also got 2 Midland 42 Multi' handhelds that can do AM though :)

If you like the radio you can still keep it or sell for a FM handheld..
Ps if you want to part with it I may buy it depending on the price of course.

I'll have to get rid of some of my AM handhelds one day, mostly 3 channel Lafayette types (in pairs) but some (half a dozen) 40 & 80 channel huge ones. I've even got a Ham Int 80Ch with (I think) serial number 1. Far too many to keep, lol.
The perfect face for radio.

Wow ! I don't remember any of those Fm cb handhelds at all.

They look like the ones that I was used to seeing for AM, whence my comment.

Now if only we hams could get 2m or 70cm handhelds on AM.

I'd be an addict.
