Alan, just wanted to mention, Dosey is a brand made in the USA. It is highly regarded. See a few photos..

Not really, if you think about what the actual circuit is doing. Some are more elaborate than others but both will have a variable capacitor, coil and another variable capacitor.Alan Pilot wrote: ↑05 Dec 2020, 05:16 If you ever get to look inside a tuner and inside a matcher you will see a big difference.
I was just trying to get the topic away from the term "Tuner" because that term is often misunderstood to think it is improving the efficiency of the antenna.
Which it does not, as we now all seem to know.
The setup the OP has got, Antron (good antenna) and CB rigs does not need a matcher unless he has a fault on his coax. Using that MFJ 971 would have introduced all manor of problems which would not be there if he took it out of circuit.
The main problem with that particular MFJ 971 is that it does not have a bypass switch.
What the OP has bought now will perform a useful function to indicate if he has a coax or antenna fault and hopefully wont introduce too much loss in the antenna circuit, or indeed create a mismatch in itself.
