Hello Claude and Sammy, I hope all is well. I've a question: In my stash of radios (I found in my storage), I pulled out a few to test and sell. However, I have a Midland 79-893 which has Side band. I'm thinking of keeping this one but, the channel selector dial cracked and lost half one side. I've tried basic searches on internet but I haven't found it. I was wondering (since you find Anything, hehe) you might have an idea?

Also, I tested all radios and they are working. However this Midland (see photo), when I keyup, the meter changes to red but needle does not move. There is also No TX or Rx.. I used a walkie-talkie to test Tx/Rx on all the radios. Any thoughts,? I'd appreciate it. 73s

Hello Claude, I've a question,, the brown ceramic capacitor at the back power connector where power cord attaches to, is that more or less the same value for most 12v radios, or are there a preference? On one of my 40 ch radios I checked, I am going to replace the plastic power port held by 2 screws, but the ceramic capacitor that attaches to power wire has a broken leg. I'll need to replace it. Problem is, I cannot make out the faded value numbers. Could you please elaborate? Thx.

Hello John

The ceramic capacitor value numbers 103

code 103.

The first 2 numbers in this case is 10, and since the third number is 3, add 3 zeros to the 10, resulting in 10,000 pf.

103 gives 10,000pf or 10nF or 0.010µF

Hello Claude, wanted to thank you for your help with the cap. I ordered a few components. I've included a photo of a part that I discovered is also broken. I don't know what it is, has coil covered with plastic that's sorta cracked off on broken end.

I've tried to track it down but I don't know what I'm looking for to be honest. Could identify it? This is Kraco KCB-4010, and I wonder if this parts value is a particular one, or is it a common viable value that can be replaced.
Back where the red X is, there's a number that seems to appear as 117, or I17. I'd Appreciate it.

Merry Christmas to all..
