I like to buy a Yaesu 857D and need to work out what Antennas to buy plus any other items. I like to use it on the hilltops so will need some mobile antennas for most of the bands like 10m, 15m, 20m, 40m and 80m plus 160m if I can. Main ones I like to try first are 10m, 20m and 40m. I looking at saving the money up to buy the whole lot in one go or to go at last onto the 10m then work up to more bands.

The car being used is a Vaxhall Asta and I will try using it in my flat. Anyway with this radio please could you help me out.

Save hard buy ATAS 120a tunes at the push of a button. There are better radiating ants out there but none as convienient also won,t do low bands grab a couple of Ampro whips cheep as chips work great

10m is dead 99% of the time now.
20 dies after greyline.
40 is great, but not with ATAS :)
I suggest to build 20/40m GP, cheap, simple and effective.
15-20 minutes to set on the hill, plenty of DX to work this part of the year. VK, ZL, W, PY and so on.
