Dear All
Sadly it seams that the number station know as the Lincolnshire Poacher seems to have disapeard from the airwaves.
This is a pitty because this was a very easy station to recieve in Western Europe and it was the first number station I ever heard.
It was believed thatn this station was being transmitted from an RAF base in Cyprus.
cheers.

Disappearance of the Poacher
Yes its a pitty.
I had not hear it for a couple of months.
Simon Mason's website also indicates the he believes this station is inactive as well.
Interestingly ther was a Cyrilic CW station that used to come on 12603 KHz (one of the frequencies used by the Linconshire poacher) and that has disapeard as well.
The so called "Mossad" station is still active, I heard that that on last night.
the "Mossad" is the one that reads letters from the NATO phonic alphabet.
Cheers

Re: Disappearance of the Poacher
Maybe it's gone tetra lol
I'll need to have a listen out, but i guess it has gone if everyone else says so! pity i guess..but i suppose it was fairless pointless to listen to anyway! still, was also my 1st number station and had me really intrigued and introduced me to other number stations.
Strange..

Re: Disappearance of the Poacher
Hi,
It was also my first number station too. About 13 or so years ago.
I last heard the Poacher in May 2008, and slapped a little YouTube video of it up there. One of the comments posted on that video said it all went quiet back in June or July 2008.
Thankfully, and only two or three days ago, I found the recording I made in January 2008, the whole 45minute transmission. I thought I'd lost it long ago, but there it was in the darkest depths of my hard drive.
Cherry Ripe is still active, I heard that at the beginning of the week - well, just about. Its no where near as easy to get as the Poacher was. 18864kHz I think works best for me.
If youre interested, heres the Lincolnshire Poacher : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua94OV9Ter8
And the MOSSAD station thats reffered to above (the E10 network), well, it has many three letter callsigns, maybe a dozen or so, but one I get regularly is Papa Charlie Delta : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfAIGF4byYo
Regards,
Steven.
