One of the members on here (Black Spirit) does a small , inexpensive expansion pcb to add the HI band , with +10khz . To be honest that's enough for me . If you require something more intricate , then you'll need to spend more .

I've had my 148 GTL modified by Black Spirit, as per above post. That gives me mids, high and the UK 40. Added FM too.

There's various different add on boards available to expand the 148, such as Channel King and DigiMax. Lescomm do several expansion boards but all quite expensive. For me, Nick's PIC chip was easy and inexpensive.

You need to watch the bandwidth, as the 148 performance will drop significantly at either end should you select to add several bands. Mine is spot on but essentially, it's only covering 1Mhz from 26.965.

If you isolate pin 9 of the PLLO2A while on Mid band you should get 27.605 to 28.045 so when switching to High band you should get 28.055 to 28.495 [or thereabouts] but you will more than likely need to lock VCO and trim RX/TX tuning stages.

Just been cleaning the pcb up, its had some recapping and work done and some messy soldering and found this.
Looks like its had the mod done at some point. This is worse than buggering about with old cars. It was sold as working (spares only), transmitting ok but beggar all on receieve, going to rework some dodgy joints round regulator and dc switch transistors then check a few dc voltages

Mr Half-Arse and his happy hot knife has been there before? I guess the plus side is most of the tracks are intact and there is no evidence over an oversized hot chisel lifting the tracks?
