Back from the 80s
Hi all
Im a newcomer hoping to make a return to ssb and dx-ing after nearly 40yrs away.
Been looking at radios that were out of reach back in the day 148,Grant etc.
My first rig in 1980 was a Midland 150m and my last rig in about 86 was a Pacific SSB800.
Always loved radio(it never leaves you)
Any advice on radio/antenna choice and modern dxing welcomed.
Based in Preston
Cheers,Mick

Re: Back from the 80s
Hello and welcome mate.
Lot of scope with £200 for a radio .
I started with similar budget.
I bought a 9900 over a 6900 as it's smaller to fit mobile, plus more power, better mic and clarifier. But they get hot on FM on long modulations so I dial it back.
There are other makes of these radios too.
I've got a Ranger 2950dx and a old CRT 3900 too now as well as antenna's, power supplies etc so budget well exceeded
There's the new CRT 3900 now and anytone ares 11 if you like old school
Ps.
I've a 125 special (175) and a GP 200
Keep the faith
