Superstar 148 GTL

Post by cb4ever104 »

Thought I'd post a pic of this.

Unfortunately the facia isn't great. Looks as if it's being eaten by mould. Tried cleaning it , but I'm not sure if I'll get it any better than it is now. There was a sticker over the 148 GTL and BAND . I removed these , but they were put on 30 years ago and it shows , as those 2 parts are now spotless.

Anyway. The radio is just a standard Ranger EPT360014B Taiwan, but it's an interesting facia. Reminds me of the SS GR and SS JA which Ranger also pumped out about the same time just to wind up President I imagine 😂

Nice, very unusual.

Does remind me of those SS GR (SuperStar Grant) SS JA (Jackson). Wish I'd bought a couple of those for the collection back in the day.
Over on WWDX I think I remember there was access to a job lot and the $ exchange was around $2.00 to the £1.00.

it's always difficult to gauge just how must cleaning or restoration is appropriate before it goes too far, if in doubt call it patina. :D
Can't help but love an Adams.

Yeah . That's the one Claude . I don't have the box with mine , but I do remember seeing it before somewhere on here . They were definitely trying to take the pi$$ out of Uniden with it :)

Hi Dave . Yes , it was . The first owner had put a SS3900 dymo sticker on it . Looks like Dirland did the same to their imports , covering the 148 GTL .

I'm going to clean it up a bit and sell it on .
