Not getting the results with inverted v on 11mtrs ,advice
I have made a couple now, found 8'3" about the ideal length and the swr on the v doesn't hardly move the needle on the meter 0 across uk 40
So sounds good.
Stick it up suspended from a fibreglass rod some 11 ft to tip ,bring each leg out to between 90-120 degree
Coax is good ,old but good ,good plugs.
Using the eurosonic es 200 which is giving 4watts.
Checked the lot out best I know
So for days I have been on highest point locally 360 mtrs to try a contact with a friend in Coventry ,some 25miles as crow flies.
I hear him v loud I guess signal 6/7 great audio however considering my height I am unable to make the contact on 11mtrs.
I today heard others around atherstone simular distance, strong audio ,they heard me cq but couldn't make my audio out.
The antenna receives fantastically ,I had many weak signals on a dozen channels obviously a good distance but I'm not making the return.
I even tried altering leg direction ?
Any thoughts ,advice for improvements to the v , ???.
I havnt a pole to try a t2lt type yet either but hear too their only just ok.
Lastly recommendations for a better wire please.
Just to add ,the same position time I then made a contact with my friend 25miles away easily with the uv5r and counterpoise wire attached to belt clip. Perfect audio strong signal and we both were using the factory antenna ,both standing outside he wasn't on a base antenna then either .
I just don't get it .
Help

Try mounting it vertical as most are running vertical polarisation and with power.
or try making a T2LT and see how you get on with that. very cheap antenna made from coax
Cheers Mark

1. Where is resonance? SWR is less important.
2. Where is current balun?
It is horizontal, omnidirectional antenna. Big loss against vertical transmitting stations on ground wave. For CB local contacts you need vertical antenna.

Oh Chris, God bless ya ,resonance I have no idea I wouldn't know how to tell.
Their is no current balun either what ever that is ,I'm guessing not a rf choke.
I will try it vertical too.
Obviously I made it wrong .
Grrrrrr

Sad to say, but totally wrong. First of it all you need vertical polarised antenna. Inv V is not.

Play with garbage, get garbage results...
Just build 1/4 GP, simple and effective.

Build s homemade gain master and suspend that at height. Great antenna

The inverted v antennas on 11 meters are great for distant contacts but not so great for local although saying that I got great results on mine locally as well and mine was indoors.
Make sure your not using lossy coax and keep the length of the coax minimal. Use an RF choke as well. I wish I were in your situation not all of us are lucky and have to meg do with indoor antennas.

Re: Not getting the results with inverted v on 11mtrs ,advice
I get super results with my home made Wire dipole antenna. I use it flat side horizontal though from the house to a pole at the bottom of the garden. Pretty good results locally as well. I have have the gainmaster vertical and very often when working 11mtr DX get better signal/radio reports on the horizontal dipole wire antenna. I don't use a Balun. Just centre fed with a shortish run of Coax. Maybe you have the facilities to try it flat side rather than V?

I use several horizontal dipoles and V dipoles,
get about 20dB attenuation from vertical so a lot less noise, you can rotate to null out more noise also.
and if two of you use similar antennas they're pretty much better than a vertical.
