First of all... Do the Military still use 225 MHz to 400 MHz or have they all moved to another system now?
If not then I'm looking for a half decent but cheap base station AM air band scanner that covers the Military Air Band Frequencies as well as Civil Air Band.
I just want something that covers Air Band only.

I'll pass, they'd be lucky to get a tenner let alone 45 quid.

Re: Cheap Air Band Scanner
you clearly don't know what you're talking about then
quite obvious with a lot of your posts i've read..
the Maycom was a dedicated Airband receiver and worked really well, got good reviews and still fetch a good price.
the Pro-26 scanner was the top of the range portable, pretty much a Pro-2006 in a hand held.
just to make a few quid i'd have bought them to double my money.
oh well..

You don't read posts correctly and always quick to insult people. I have better scanners that I paid less for. I'm looking for a "Base Station" scanner not a handheld.bigpimp347 wrote: ↑03 May 2021, 09:42you clearly don't know what you're talking about then

Re: Cheap Air Band Scanner
i agree on the base station part, was just saying for the price to anyone else these are a bargain.
i use an IFR-1200SRA for local monitoring does ok for me.
i suppose there's better out there though.

Other people may pay those sorts of prices but I don't. Unless its something special most scanners are pretty much worthless these days as a lot of services have moved to digital modes.bigpimp347 wrote: ↑03 May 2021, 10:16i agree on the base station part, was just saying for the price to anyone else these are a bargain.

Re: Cheap Air Band Scanner
Not at all, most scanners can be used on digital modes..
just fit a discriminator tap and use a cheap PC and DSD+ and listen to all sorts.
i have an old Realistic Pro-2006, discriminator tap fitted, cheap laptop, DSD+ and Pocsag decoder, works fine.
my IRF has an FM demod out as well and the spectrum display is good for finding stations too.
if anyone has a worthless scanner even a cheap 16 channel job, fitting a discriminator tap can make it quite useful.
