i'm sure i used a program called chirp and just copied the PMR channels across , took merely 5 minutes, you will need the cable to program the radio from the computer, mines came with the radio .

No, in fact you won't be able to add the 32 channels with 3.125 kHz steps (I think the UV-5R supports only 6.25 kHz steps). Look up a list of the 16 channels instead and use them. They are used with 12.5 kHz spacing which is what you want for receiving analogue stuff.

The PMR/DMR 446 channel list is:

1 446.00625 MHz
2 446.01875 MHz
3 446.03125 MHz
4 446.04375 MHz
5 446.05625 MHz
6 446.06875 MHz
7 446.08125 MHz
8 446.09375 MHz
9 446.10625 MHz
10 446.11875 MHz
11 446.13125 MHz
12 446.14375 MHz
13 446.15625 MHz
14 446.16875 MHz
15 446.18125 MHz
16 446.19375 MHz

Legal for both analogue and DMR 0.5 Watt 😉

For DMR I use them all on CC1 G1 S1, I have seen CC1 G99 S1 mentioned but not seen any default group for DMR. So pretty much use any talkgroup you want.
