South West Net

Post by funkmaster »

There is a new net(or meeting channel) in the South West which has so far proved quite popular on 27.295 USB.

This Wednesday from 6.30pm we are looking to get a few of us on the frequency and everyone is welcome to come on and say hi

I've never spoken to anyone on sideband since going on air in '81, but as I'm in the South West I'll have a listen in now and again to see if I can hear anyone. I do own a sidebander so it'd be a shame not to. I'm about 7 miles south of Bristol.

I had a listen 5 minutes ago and could hear "something" right at the back of the set with the needle jiggling about between S1 and 2 for a few minutes, but I couldn't make anything out word-wise at all. I think I was in the right place anyway, usb ch21 mid-block with the clarifier down a tad (no frequency counter wired up).

Clarifier is usually at 12 o'clock for midblock channels on older ssb radios ;)
Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.

I heard bugger all on all the other channels! ;)

I haven't got a frequency chart and didn't bother to look it up (I only use ukfm if I ever speak on the thing which is very very rarely as no one's on round here).
It was worth a try though, but my Antron's only about 8ft off the ground.

Monitored sw net last night. Was able to hear faint modulation it not understandable .
Their was a t c I could hear who took seat a while.
Continental skip was received stronger to me in fair which didn't help.

Will be making adjustments to hopefully try a call next week's net.
Fingers crossed for better conditions.
