Passed my RAE years ago lost the certificate

Post by oldpink »

Hi there

New member
many years ago ( 1986 - 1990) I went to the Glasgow Nautical collage and did the RAE with a friend
2 nights a week for about a year if I recall correct and sat 2 papers on the same day

anyway I passed and got the certificate and the handbook but never applied for a license
I'd like to get back into it and I have access to some equipment
I found the ofcom site and registered but it says I have no license
then I found the City & guilds site and the search page but not entirely sure about a few fields
is there an easy way to get a copy, I'm still at the same address that my original certificate was delivered to
I hear Radio Waves in my head
CRT SS 6900 Fully modded Export setup programmable
Cobra 148 GTL DX Mk 2
Alan 9001 26 - 30.190 multi band
SDRPlay RSP1A x2 with a Create 5310 on a rotator and Discone for general

You need the certificate to get a license.
What fields are you unsure of? I still have my 1982 C+G somewhere if you need something from that, like the course title?

try getting a new pass certificate from C&G by contacting them. https://www.cityandguilds.com/help/contact-us
they will want details of the exam centre and date etc. others have done this.
good luck.
73,
mark.

not quite sure of the Qualification Title(s) and award type though I'm pretty sure it was City & Guilds
and the building seems to have changed from the Glasgow College of Nautical Studies to City of Glasgow College

Something in my head says the number was 765. Two parts.

EDIT
Yep C&G 765 and I even found one of the papers. Might put some of those "was it harder then" posts into context. http://www.g4dmp.co.uk/rae/rae1977m.pdf

yeah I looked at some of them
Hell how did I remember all that sh*t and it was coming back to me as I read the paper
I knew what a superheterodyne receiver was and it was something that I hadn't thought about in almost 30 years

anyway some good news my mate is pretty certain he has his certificate but can't get to it till next week
but it should fill in the blanks I have as we sat the same exam on the same day (3 of us passed)
