Yaesu ft747 vfo encoder

Post by tony2803 »

Can anyone help me out. I need to replace the vfo encoder in both of my yaesu ft747s.
Contacted yaesu uk for these parts and they are no longer available.
I have been informed that a optical encoder is avaliable for these 747s.
Can anyone help me locate these optical encoders either with a part number or place where i can purchase them. Thanks in advance.

It is mechanical encoder.

First I would try to open and clean it.
If no improvement, in linked thread is described how to swap that with optical one.

Thanks for the help
I would like to purchase a more modern encoder can anyone suggest a encoder as i have watch a video on youtube of an encoder being fitted to a yaesu ft747 with only 3 wires connected. Data, Clk and ground.
Does anyone know where i can purchase this type of encoder. Thanks in advance.
