Go on eBay and buy a cheap USB to TTL (5V) RS232 lead.
While you're there, purchase a lead with a USB MINI B plug on it. If this lead has a USB A connector on it too, cut it off.
Wire the 0V on the USB to RS232 lead (usually black) to the black lead in the mini USB lead. (Ground, pin 5)
Wire the TXd on the USB to RS232 lead (usually green) to the white lead in the mini USB lead. (D-, Pin 2)
Wire the RXd on the USB to RS232 lead (usually white) to the green lead in the mini USB lead. (D+, Pin 3)
That's it

Re: Make your own CRE8900 programming cable
Well, I did mine slightly differently. I wired it to a USB socket so I can plug an ordinary USB lead into it.It's wired up the same though. It works with my CRE8900.MrWeetabix wrote:we're waiting for the Blue Peter Style 'here's one I made earlier'

Looking good
Thanks for sharing with the boards too, its appreciated!
Next up, you have to make one using yogurt pots and PVA glue. I'll have you a TM1 pin badge made up if you can do it without your mum helping
