Radio ID Question...

I got a TYT MD380 a few days ago but am struggling with the programming software. Imagine there are two talk groups with similar radio ID numbers. Radio ID one the first talk group belongs to 'Jimmy', but the same Radio ID number of a different talk group belong to 'John'. How can I get the radio to tell them apart? I've tried the Digital Contacts list and have put in the two Talk Groups into the list with their TG number as Group Call. I've also got some of the various users listed with their Radio ID's as Private Call.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, not too sure I fully understand the question, have you tried the contacts manager software?

And the ham codeplug (this one might be a bit old now).

If it's DMR-MARC then in theory no two RIDs should be the same.

Hi, not too sure I fully understand the question,

There's two local talk groups that I listen to on DMR, TG1001 and TG1057. The radios the use have similar radio ID numbers, i.e. 1,2,3....10, etc.

I wanted to differentiate between TG1001 radio ID 1 and TG1075 radio ID 1, but the radio shows them with the same alpha tagged username/callsign, which can be confusing. Does that make sense?

Okay, I was making an assumption that this was a ham radio thing for some strange reason.

No, DMR was primarily designed for business and academic users, therefore the handsets and repeaters were only really intended to work on one network, not be a general purpose set. It's just something you have to live with if you're using it to listen to multiple networks.

That was my thread, I was a bit nieve then, I've learnt a lot about the stuff now.

As has been said, they are designed to work on one system, so rid 100 is fred and rid 200 is mary, use it on another network and it gets messed up.
