one lowband repeater in the right place would cover that whole areaWindy_Miller wrote:Interesting.
We run about 25 x 5.8 GHz links over an area of around 1000 square km. Some have absolutely no GSM coverage, but plenty coverage over our own network. These might be just the ticket for the guys on the masts to be able to speak back to base. Some of the sites are not line of sight, so UHF's don't work.
The only concern is that we don't have WIFI on the sites, and the links are PTP rather than PTMP, so we might need access points at each site instead of communicating directly over the backhaul.

I contacted ICOM last year about this, several times. But they failed to respond each time. So we gave up and now use SIP / DECT cordless phones instead. Arrive at site, plug in the base unit and theres then wall to wall DECT coverage at each site, with a SIP connection over the microwave backhaul all the way back to the PBX.
Sorry Icom, if you snooze, you lose!

I dont like Dect so much. That mean an Additional Infrastructure to an Wifi Hotspot System.
Quite all PBX Systems are an Rip off. The cost 4x more that it should cost.
Make Phone Calls in an Network is so easy to handl.

The Gigaset IP DECT base stations are excellent for jobs like this. About the size of two fag packets, program up your SIP account details and you can have 4 lines into your PBX from anywhere with a spare ethernet port on your network... and for about 70 quid!
