Cleartone CM6000

Hi Just picked up a couple of old Cleartone CM6000 from work. They are both VHF one has a keypad and the other one doesn't.

I had a look online and found a few threads but nothing all that too helpful.

By looking inside these radios it looks like they may be software defined? Can they be reprogrammed via the keypad? I'd like to get both these radios onto 2 meters if possible not sure of the frequency range of these radios?

Where could I download the programming software?

I'm going to look for the manual online tonight.

I know the CM7000 can be programmed by the keypad but I am not sure the 6000 can.

I have an older CM6500 on uhf which is programmable by the keypad
I will describe the method in case it is the same unit as yours.

There is a row of long stiff wire pins next to the processor and you have to link pin1 to pin11
on some radios these pins are linked to the mic socket on pin1 and the last pin of the mic socket (pin8?)
Anyway with the radio powered off link the two pins

Then turn the radio on and press P.pri followed by 10
The radio is now in program mode

Enter the following
1 Receive Frequency AAAAAA 6 digits
2 Simplex/half duplex enter 0 for simplex or 8 for duplex
3 Transmitter operation code for normal tx & rx 0 for rx only 4
4 RX CTCSS Tone two digits ( see list for numbers)
5 TX CTCSS Tone two digits (see list for numbers)
6 Transmit Frequency ZZZZZZ 6 digits
7 Press Enter on keypad
8 Enter channel number to store to

here is an example

Would store GB3VT in memory 1

In my radio there are 10 channels yours may have 16 channels
but if its the same chassis the programming should be the same.

You may have to tweak the local oscillator to get the pll synth to lock
I had to on mine but mine is a 70cms version.
And again you may have to tweak the receive and transmit stages for maximun sensitivity and output power.
If you don't have the correct test equipment to tune up the radio find a local ham who has and is willing to tune up for you.

CM6000 VHF with keypad is programmed exactly the same - I used to use them many years ago.

I'm sure stormshadow will have it up and running then in no time.
It is difficult sometimes to find info on older radios
So i will mark my notes to say the cm6000 is the same as mine
