Can't answer the question but i was always led to believe the AA version
was a tad better, i will leave the technical part to those who know why if
thats the case.

The answers are here
PThe PB-010AA Chassis was the First Cobra 148 GTL-DX MK2 version produced. There are a few notible differences between the AA and AB Chassis. The below picture is of a 010AA Chassis, notice how the 3 tuning pots VR3, VR4 & VR6 are all orientated the same way round.

Depends what mode your talking about if eprom'd... standard all the way if for a mk1 aa board if for ssb! i mean front end on a mk1 is well known to be sensitive standard i never liked the delay in a mk 1 when converting beep to on/off! - just for starters!

The mkII has the PB-010 . The Superstar 360s I have allhave the AB variant and I was just wondering what the difference was between them .warhorse wrote:Depends what mode your talking about if eprom'd... standard all the way if for a mk1 aa board if for ssb! i mean front end on a mk1 is well known to be sensitive standard i never liked the delay in a mk 1 when converting beep to on/off! - just for starters!

The front of the board differs slightly from AA to AB, IE: Beep circuit but apart from that not much else at all.
I have seen a few AB's where both sets of crystals are present with 6 tuning inductors, But not for a long time.

What do you mean, Got me a bit lost there.warhorse wrote:i never liked the delay in a mk 1 when converting beep to on/off!

From what i remember after the beep mod the dekey is still there but no beep just like its still going through the switching ~ cycle! never noticed that in a mk2 Ab board!

Then its being switched wrong, I have seen it done before in the PC-879AB where one leg of TR33 is switched to ground which only mutes the beep tone, Simply switching the one leg of C146 [beep timer] will knock the beep off completely with no delay.warhorse wrote:From what i remember after the beep mod the dekey is still there but no beep just like its still going through the switching ~ cycle! never noticed that in a mk2 Ab board!
