Quick counterpoise question for handheld

Post by original45 »

If I used a T bnc Connector on my handheld and then connected one 21" antennas to each of the other two bnc points this won't be a counterpoise antenna or will it.
Is this ok to do .
Just a cb handy not that it makes a difference.

Thank you

It wont as the antennas will both be connected to the antenna. For counterpoise one would need to be connected to the earth.

Thank you I thought this the case. However would it be safe to use as such a configuration especially whilst transmitting.

I know both antennas are same,so would be in a multiple of the wavelength however centre fed.
I am not sure at all and wouldn't try it to test unless I was confident it safe to do so.

Could the one aerial be dissected and the coil in it soldered to the ground plane side instead of the centre to aid it??? I've never taken a skinny one apart though so this might not be pheasable.

I have considered this in my mind but havnt looked at the T connector yet.
I know this will be the only way for a counterpoise anyway.

If I'm honest I wouldn't want to alter the antenna however I will be happier if I can somehow do dome mod to the T bnc .
I think that would be sensible unless not possible.

I bet they don't come apart radially either ,typically .
Thank you

Well blow me down with a feather, the bnc T dropped apart in my hands, this will be simple now. Sorted thank you .
