Got two..one requires a new lead and the other is like new.... Never use em tbh...
Legendary status aren't they...

Like a lot of the old stuff it gains a mythology.

They're good, but not IMHO as good as some others althought they do fit my hands nicely.

I picked one up not long ago in it's box with the paper work but the cable is rotten and falling to bits. Anyone know where I can get a replacement cable for it?

How many wires have they got inside?

I've got the cable I just removed from my Astatic power mic as well as two others I believe are almost identical in size the the K40's.

I replaced my K40 mic with a larger gauged one and had to very carefully drill out the existing wire that it's bonded onto and then open the hole up a bit to take the bigger cable. It was tight (as you can't open the cable protector up too much..about an extra mil, mil and a half maybe), but a bit of Fairy Liquid helped matters.

I've got this one going spare Nightprowler: (fingers crossed it uploads)..
It's a touch smaller than that of an Astatic mic's coiled cable diameter (pictured on left as a comparison) but it's pretty long.

BTW, its a 5-core plus the screen so the wires are pretty thin.

Opps I forgot to mention that Dave The Collector sent me a lovely replacement cable for my K40 Mic. Now wired up and looking very nice. Just have to 'mod' my SS360FM for the mic. Cheers Dave I owe you one

Glad you got it sorted mate ;) Glad I could help.
I sent it to you just in time too as I'm about to advertise the rest of my mic cables and some other bits on ebay.

Just a thought but what if you had metal teeth or a brace? Could be tricky using one with the magnet In them :wtf:

just purchased a K40, never had one before, was a bit concerned about the mod to keep it going, but seems to work very well on my president Ronald, easily picks up the tv in the background when chatting to my wife from the shed, came boxed with the magnetic pad thing, cables not knackered either, so far so good
