Anyone know if the Mini-USB cable supplied with the 7100 is a generic USB cable?

Can't for the life of me get my 7100 to connect to the PC, left the original cable in the UK!

Any USB cable with proper plugs will work.

A standard USB cable will work but I believe you need to install a driver on the PC to allow the two to communicate.

Check out the Icom website for more info.

Yep, it’s the same laptop from the UK so I know it’s not driver related.
It connects to the CS7100 software just not data modes... Never used the data modes on this laptop though. WJST-X

Thanks. No difference, those instructions are pinched from someone from QRZ Forum.

It’s frustrating.

I have noticed that the radio has added two ports in device manager which is odd.

I think that's as it should be, as there are 2 virtual ports. I've got rid of my 7100 a while ago, but can remember there being 2 ports. I think this is due to the multi-function capability of the port, such as 1 for rig control and one for the builtin soundcard.

Anyway, hope you get it working. I'm sure you have already done this, but there's quite a bit of info on the web about this

**Edit**

Found this about the 2 USB ports.
