2m antenna identity

Post by Sam P »

Can anyone ID this for me please?

The bottom ground planes are my addition (I assume it had some originally).

The length from the bottom to the spiral coil is about 1m but longer than that above... Ihave it tuned to an SWR 1:1 on 145MHz at 50ohms.

It looks similar to a Ringo Ranger although it's slightly different.
Where at the antenna is the coax feed?

I've changed radios so many times, I've forgotten what I have

It's fed straight up the bottom ---- Oooer

I assume the top element is 5/8 or 3/4 for 2m????

The Ringo appears to be fed mid point so end fed rules that out. The phasing coil mid way up suggests perhaps a double 5/8
Certainly familiar looking but haven't found anything in the short look I've had on the usual websites.

Well thanks for having a go... it certainly seems to work well but my analyser doesn't cover UHF so I'm a bit stumped on that side of thing.
