Oh yes, an antenna that works underground - have you managed to get anything that works down the tunnels etc?
I wonder if we can pick each other up using the little bumfeng handytalkies?
What radio are you going to put on the bike?

Re: Foundation Exam
I'd say if it was light when you wake up, it's a good day but some jokester might throw in a torch before they nailed the lid on
Not sure what is best for underground use Matty..
when we went down below we just used PMR446 radios, wasn't that far from the other person though.
i was thinking of getting an external speaker mic for the Baofeng and butcher it for on the trike.
have maybe a toggle switch for the ptt and have it in a little box on the bars(next to the grip) , an earpiece or a pad to fit in helmet and a boom for the mic that fastens onto helmet.
Will give the Baofengs a test sometime, i'll sit at the back door as it points in your direction.
may work the mile or so between us

Re: Foundation Exam
I'd always heard that TM1 was the UK's premier underground radio forum...

Re: Foundation Exam
But if they admit it kr0ne,they could be in a Jam,but only if they are "going" to admit it.
Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.

Re: Foundation Exam
Just a quick update.
I took the Foundation exam today and passed.
22/26.
A couple of silly mistakes despite taking my time and reading the questions 3 times and checking again before doing the answers in pen.
I've ordered the intermediate book to start studying.

Re: Foundation Exam
Well done Paul. Congrats and welcome to the ranks of amateur radio.
And dont worry too much about the intermediate, just read the book and you be fine.
My advance exam is 3 weeks today.
