Hello Group! Allow me to introduce myself.
I am nearly 50 and have been interested in radio communications most of my life. I have used a CB radio for as long as I have been an adult, and will soon get my Ham license. When I worked for the American Red Cross I was allowed to use the county's police/fire channels to communicate with Dispatch and Emergency Management, with the call-sign "Red Cross One." We also had our own Red Cross frequency, 47.42MHz, plus FMR for our internal communications at a disaster scene. Now I am at a point when it is time to seriously learn about radios and what makes them work. I look forward to reading the hundreds of posts on this forum, and hopefully understanding some of what I read!
Here's to learning!
