Create CLP-5130-2N high gain antenna ??

Post by oldpink »

been looking for a new antenna to replace my Sigma 1300 discone
I looked at the Diamond x 700 2m - 70cm as it will be used with a SDRplay RSP1a or Duo when I upgrade but its too restricted to its bands as I want to cover 137.000mhz for the Noaa satellites and 450.000 - 460.000 for DMR

the Create CLP-5130-2N seems the better option if not a bit more expensive and I think I'll mount it onto a rotator for maximum coverage
anyone here ever used one
or know of a better option ??
one of the reasons I looked at this antenna is it can be used to track meteor showers so it ties in with my astronomy

TIA for any input

For NOAA I would use QFH.
For scanning I would stay with omnidirectional antenna. Too much signals missed when directional will be turned to wrong direction.

I'm looking at building a dedicated QFH or possibly a turnstile specific for Noaa but I want to cover a lot more like airband & 10m and as I said meteor stikes
so directional works best the Omi directional has no gain and I have a 20ft mast I can mount a rotator onto for £150 and put the antenna up on an ally pole another 10ft as its only 5Kg and the rotator can take up to 45kg

current setup

tracking Fox - 1D on 145.800 via SDRrsp 1A and Fox telem
with the discone on a 20ft mast (not the best pic)
