When scanning my frequencies what mode ?

When scanning my frequencies what mode ?

When i am scanning through my added frequencies on my uniden ubc785xlt dose it matter if i set every thing to auto or is it better to set say the mode to fm and the step to 12.5 ??

If you are scanning programmed channels then you will have already assigned the mode, so the mode will change with the channel, if you are scanning between two set parameter frequencies then it's best to set the mode and step to the most commonly used for that general spectrum area, ie 120-125MHz you would set to AM and 12.5 or 8.33Kc, 90-100MHz then WFM and 50Kc etc, etc.

In short, Aircraft use AM business radio uses Narrow FM (NFM) Wide FM (WFM) is used by broadcast stations (87.5-107.9Mhz)

Business may also use various Digital modes.
