Antenna for scanning in the Car.

Post by Shetlander »

Hey there,

Wondering if anyone can recommend a non permanent antenna (magnetic or on glass) for using whilst I’m out and about in the car?

I currently have a Uniden handheld, but I’m sure with someone more substantial than the standard handheld antenna, should healed better quality.

I have seen a fair few of the cheap on glass ones on eBay and have heard mixed results. Anyone used one?

Thanks

Generally the magnetic mount ones are meant to be better, because they use the roof of your car as a ground plane. A cheap dual band VHF/UHF antenna aimed at amateur radio operators should work fairly well and be available cheaply too. I'm thinking of something like the Nagoya UT-108UV
