RNLI Pager capcodes

Post by torquetube »

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if there is a pattern for the capcodes/Rics used by the RNLI for lifeboat paging which incorporate the station number etc? Also am I right in thinking the frequency for rnli paging is 153.0750mhz?

Yes, the first two numbers are always 10, the next three are the station ID and the last two are either individual pagers or if 91 or 92 full group pages (these are the ones you'll see when there's a shout). The most recent list I have is this one.

Thank you very much, that is very helpful indeed. I'll set up PDW and see what I get.

There are some other ways to get RNLI shout updates, if you can't — or don't want to — decode the signals:

The RNLI's "Desktop Pager" allows you get notifications for your local station, or all stations:
http://rnli.org/aboutus/lifeboatsandsta ... ktop-pager
Though there can be a delay before the update goes out.

A Twitter account that uses RNLI data (all stations):
http://twitter.com/outonashout
Seems to be a 30-45 min delay on this.

Are the pagers on a national frequency or just local to the lifeboat station.

Due to problems with the internet hoster, the official download location for PDW has been changed to http://www.discriminator.nl/pdw/index-en.html as of yesterday.

I am looking to program a pager I have to my local rnli station, I have managed to program in the 153.075Mhz, 512 baud rate and relevant capcode but on my pager it has 7 digits, a space then 4 characters on the capcode section??? The characters to select on each string is either; A, N, P, I, T or - Does anybody know what this means?

Thanks
