H-Mobile X8

Post by Windy_Miller »

Is there no end to the range of low cost radio options that China thinks we need?

A quad sim mobile with 400-470 MHz UHF transceiver and a battery pack big enough to start a tractor!

All for £36!

Handy for anyone that hankers to having a mobile that looks like it came from the 80's!

I just looked at the vid, the OS looks very Symbian-like, that died a death ten years ago.

There was nothing wrong with symbian, it was very fast as it was pretty lightweight on processors, there's still a community going, but the GUI was just very 'cartoony' (that's not a real word).

At £36 quid it would be great for outdoor folk, stick a PAYG SIM from all four main providers, and a walkie-talkie too, and, as you say, that battery pack should keep it going for a good while.

EDIT: Only 2G, so a 3 SIM won't work.

I guess if you are outdoors, then 3G wouldn't matter. Heck, most of Scotland doesn't have 3G after all!

God I hope it has that emergency mode where all the LEDs flash as it wails from the speaker then transmits SOS in Morse every 5 seconds...
