Echolink for 'licensed amateurs' only?

FRN, needs radios with CTCSS.

Neither appear ideal without a lot of modification to the radios or a license which I don't have.

There was, maybe still is a echolink 446 version for 446...
I used to run it....!?
As for frn not sure about the tones...
But you could run it as a rx program for a few hours a day..!
If your bothered about a license you need to be a ham and apply..
People have been playing music on the calling channels for 30 years very little action if any has been taken..
If you google the 446 route you will see some info on this...
There's been no problem with this..afaik...
looking for propagation for 2013 and beyond... Operating close to the Edge....
of reason......and the Quantocks...
Didi modes (JS8 on 27.245 usb) txt messages via radio lol at minus- 10 to 20 db..... 😊 See FB page...

Not bothered at all about having a license it's just that the program doesn't seem to be available for download without a validated one unless I'm missing something?

I'll look again at Echolink, I've settled on an interim solution though, there's anough signal that I can hear myself via the dummy load out to my shed so I'm just waiting for a PMR446 handy to turn up and then I'll set up a local HF to PMR 446 repeater.

The Raspberry Pi idea is still a work in progress and I think it will be useable, it'll be an interesting experiment at least. Now if only I could get the damn RTL to work on it at all (There's a really good reason, even as an IT professional, that I hate Linux).
