I think the 2k thing on pwr was just a figure of speech tbh I know PL well enough to know he's an electronics buff like the rest of us ! There was no bad feeling in his post I noted at all. So yep back on topic...

Anyone doing any modding atm don't be shy, post it up here in the thread, i'd love to see what you guys are doing out there.

For the record, I consider PLL02A as a 'virtual' friend, so he was tugging my chain, as I tug his.

Moving on.

For clarification, as I tug his chain also. I don't tug anything else of his, except on his Birthday.

Same model unit or different one's ? Its a result just getting it from one model / unit. What normally happens is the sense over voltage circuit shuts the show down, if an upper maximum tolerance is exceeded. I'm trying to get a noisy unit to play ball atm.

What we looking at... Most won't want much over 30 Amps or there about's. So extra voltage versus lower current in almost all server psu's is not an issue. Even at higher currents its unlikley to be a problem, an 800 watt server unit should be rated at around 66.6 Amps at 12 volts, at 13.8 Volts that would be around 57.9 Amps. So you can see its really not a problem with higher current converted server units.

If your converting a 400 watt server unit or less it might become an issue. But if you take your maximum current needs into account you can opt for the server unit that best suits your needs. I'm sure most people wanting power is unlikley to exceed 50 Amps.. But if you do, there are units easily converted that can handle higher currents.
