Radio Caroline AM 648Khz
Radio Caroline AM service to open
Weather and technology permitting, our programmes on 648 kHz will commence originating from the Ross Revenge at 7.00 AM on Friday 22nd December.
The changed schedule for the day will be :
7am Johnny Lewis
9am Top Fifteen
10am Ray Clark – with the official launch at midday.
2pm Kevin Turner
5pm Resume normal programmes
No doubt Bob Lawrence, Martin Fisher and Jerry Wright will personalise their evening shows to mark the day.
Of course we are delighted to have found and secured what must be the best possible AM transmission site for our service. We thank Cobra Mist Ltd for this facility whilst noting that this is a private site which cannot at this time be visited.
So, another date for the Radio Caroline calendar of events and the inevitable question. Where do we go from here?

Re: Radio Caroline AM 648Khz
It was a very good signal on my Wellbrook + SDRPlay all day yesterday here in Cheshire. Perfectly good enough to listen to without wearing my anorak. Only just detectable on my Sony portable though. It's not so good today.

Listening to it from the Kelvin Valley in Lanarkshire.
It's a decent enough signal with some QSB at times and is competing with some European signals.
Good to hear it though!

Re: Radio Caroline AM 648Khz
Nothing heard here either, heard best reception is around Suffolk and Essex.
Good to see some activity coming onto to MW, there doesn't seem to be much interest for it now, Talksport just got their agreement renewed by Ofcom at £10K a year when they use to pay £100k.Most are heading for Internet Radio which is a pity, even the Overcoming Ministrys are packing in SW transmissions on Jan 2018, be unusual not to hear when the world is going to end when there gone.
Thanks, good listening and a HNY
Regards
Alan

Re: Radio Caroline AM 648Khz
Conditions must have lifted a little.
Now receiving a noisy Radio Caroline signal at signal strength 2 to 2.5 variable.

Might be useful to know whereabouts you are. Not a great report if you are based in Clacton, but good if in Blackpool

So that's what it was. A great trip down memory lane, but 50 years too late, i-pods are the new MW tranny for teenagers.

Sorry Malcom , see my earlier post: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=54762#p496718
Based Southampton using HF Communications Reciever Alinco DX-R8
And listening now all I get is a foreign Spanish? station swamping Radio Caroline. For all I know a South American station on a good "skip".

Re: Radio Caroline AM 648Khz
That depends on what signal level you mean but so far Ofcom haven't released the coverage map. Officially they are covering North Essex and Suffolk although as a community interest station I'm not sure the TSA is actually defined in the licence but with Orfordness being omni I would imagine north Kent is receiving similar strength to places within the intended service area. Suffolk, Kent, Essex and parts of adjoining counties all seem to be within anorak reception level, the limiting factor for most is the noise floor being way above natural levels due to so much EMI.
my friend grafter, seems like you are using a very offensive tone in the reply.
