FRG-7 RECEIVER

hi hope someone can help.......i have got the abouve receiver ,the trouble is it has a digital readout whitch is not very unstable ...... if i tune to say for instanse 5.680 it hovers between 5.689 and 5.680 and knocks the audio out. {bnghd} very frustrating .... is there eny way i can alter this inside on the main dial ...

It is a 1970's radio.
Sounds like a fault in one of the local oscillator generators.

Is it unstable on all the 1MHz band segments?
Does the red lock light come on?
Frequency displays are an add-on, is it built into the case or external?

thanks for fast reply...yes it is a 1970 radio it is unstable on all 1 mhz bands..display is in the casing of radio ......thanks ,is there anything i can do.
