The BBC said they 'veered off course' and later edited it to 'went off course', I'm no aviator, but a 90° turn is hardly veering.

Right over the top of Staxton Wold.... Not good...

Flight looks like an AP glitch n maybe pilots not paying attention

This is NOT the normal flightpath for this flight......

Even if you do lose comms, veering off at a 90 degree angle isn't the best of ideas. I suspect a fair degree of Pilot error or should that be PILOT FUBAR OPERATIONS?

They'll be dragged over the coals, not that we here in Newcastle actually produce any Coal these days (Thanks Maggie).

If you lose comms you continue as per your last report, and there's always a reserved corridor of airspace which allows the aircraft to fly past the tower at a safe distance waggling (technical term that!) It's wings to indicate lost com's, and that triggers the correx landing sequence. This is either something sinister, or a monumental cock up.

I dunno how they managed it, but the proverbial will no doubt hit the big spinny-thing for this.

That turn wasn't rudder drift, that was a bank, maybe more to this than meets the eye or that they're letting on.

Makes me worry as I use this flight often when transiting to other countries via CDG.
Might request a change to LHR and swallow the £60 change fee - sounds dodgy to me.

I am terrified of flying anyway - stuff like this just makes me worse! :)
Hopefully a genuine, technical reason for it - not some bodged attempt at German wings-type sketch....

Terrified of flying?

That's what the trolley service is for. Some candy for the eyes and some medicine for the fear ;-)

Which is why I end up banjaxed before I get to my destination :D
BA and American Airlines actually serve Newcastle Brown Ale, 10 cans of that stuff and it's a knockout! (the unlimited spirits, wine and corona in the Heathrow Lounge 3 hours prior does not help matters ;))

I heard the sonic booms. I thought someone had dropped a couple of bombs at first.

Switched on the uniden but picked up nowt, possibility because I haven't got Coningsby programmed in.

Its nice to know the crabs still have planes capable of going rather rapidly... Only ever seem to see lumbering transports over here and maybe some Shawbury Griffin clattering about
