Good spot!

That looks more or less like the route they normally take coming in to the airport though... Wonder how they will arrive while trialling this?

Im thinking they will probably arrive exactly the same way - the vertical separation between arrivals and departures at Musselburgh will be circa 10K feet. Way more than minimum.

Departures on the TUTOR SID have to be FL130+ when crossing the coast southbound. Inbounds have to be under FL120 by TARTN.

This will be interesting to see how this works in practice. are there any plans to add any more atc frequencies at all? P.S, any wee surprises visiting EDI at all? We've had the 777 recently, any other treats in store?

No plans for more frequencies but I suspect we will have director open a lot more. Because this is a trial to begin with, EDI Radar will be working all TUTOR departures as well as any other departures that are subject to a 1 minute split against a TUTOR.

Cheers for clearing that up Glamdring, was thinking things were being tested prior to full operation. May pay a visit to CG6/banks of the Almond as I really need to get some more photo's. (Especially some of the American airlines new livery which I think is very smart.) Calibrator operating today too I see? "FCAL42".

Now that this trial has started i have noticed that when aircraft depart they are now handed over from Tower to Radar then Radar hand them over to Scottish Control. Not sure if it is my imagination but it seems like all radio traffic on all Edi freqs has increased.

As I said earlier in the thread all TUTOR departures will work radar before being handed to Scottish as well as any other departures subject to a 1 minute split against them.

With a 1 minute split the departures can get pretty close so EDI Radar work them until we have 5 miles between them before transferring to Scottish.

Not your imagination, it has definitely made things busier for the controller.

Once the trial period has finished the plan will be for the new SID to go free flow like the others and things should quieten down again.

A similar trial is soon to begin on runway 06 allowing reduced departure separations between the existing SIDs.
