Edinburgh airport expansion

Post by stratocaster »

News today that Edinburgh airport is to have an expansion programme with £25m spent on the international terminal expansion to the tram line.Good news for Edinburgh,Chris, not so sure you'll be too enthusiastic as the report claimed that it was also to encourage more international routes as well as making the whole experience better for passengers.Looks like the Director frequency will be used quite a bit more often then or will there be an application to CAA and MOD as well as OfCom for an extra frequency to be allocated to EDI?

Doubt there would be another frequency added, we already have a spare. To be honest, with the way that we work at Edi, the radar guy can pretty much cope with any amount of IFR traffic on his own, it's when you throw in loads of VFR and/or bad weather into the mix that director is usually needed.

Ah, so that's how they're going to make the tram line reach all the way to the airport

Wait a minute... if EDI are about to spend £25M of real (non-public) money, then that must mean that this tram line is actually going to be built one day...

Who'd have thunk it?

And they couldn't stretch Leith any further eastwards!! I did hear from reliable sources that it would be inevitable there will also be a railway connection near to the terminal area as it continues to expand, all we have to do now is to wait for the MOD to fully pull out of Craigiehall barracks and for the landowner Lord Rosebery selling up to GIP when the price is right and bingo,2nd runway here we come! Mind you, having said so,looks like Japan Airlines are testing/proving routes, been told that Emirates and Qatar airlines are next!! :D

Sure there will, the new expanded Leith will extend all the way to York Place.

It's called Leith Walk for a reason
