So....got a wouxun kg uv9d plus and went online to ml&s video on how to set up software and cable.......then helpfully says about 5 mins in not to connect cable first. Guess what? already have it connected and it now wont talk to the radio (win 7)Anyhow, went again on the wife's laptop and it talks to the radio (win10). Question. How do I get it to work now on the original laptop?(win7)?

I would guess it says not to connect the cable first because of the driver. You could try plugging it in again, then opening device manager (search for it) and finding the radio, then uninstalling the driver and starting from the beginning again.
