hotdog and chips - Seems to be very busy in the evenings quizes and is quite a fun room
no passwords in any rooms

also there a repeater link called

K2DES Amateur Radio Link

Not too much too worry about regarding the data usage as it uses quite an efficient version of the speex codec. I don't think this app works over GSM though as stated in the subject. GPRS is the most basic technology it will work on.

It is a very good app though and some people are even using it for 446 gateways because it can be accessed through your phone (unlike FRN.)

I sometimes stream my scanner through zello in the channel "scanner stream"
It's not always on but if you feel like listening you can come in and see if the user "bben951" is on. That's the account I use to stream it.

Just like teamspeak. Not many people would use Zello for digital as of the codec. However teamspeak has a new android app https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... amspeak.ts.

You can pay per slot something like 9p http://www.multiplaygameservers.com/voi ... amspeak-3/ and have a highest quality for Digital but for analog it wouldn't matter.

“Quality: (best quality comes first)
Speex25.9 > Speex19.5 > Speex16.3 > Speex12.3 > GSM16.4 = GSM14.8 > Speex9.3 > Speex7.2 > WinCELP5.2 > Speex5.2 > CELP6.3 = CELP5.1 > Speex3.4

Sounds interesting :) Is there any documentation about how this works and the principles as how it actually "transmits" on the frequencies and how to select them (I'm also supposing that this would be only within the area used by the mobile phone device) I use a mobile internet dongle with 3 and if there is a PC version of this app and how I would go about using it and will it work with the internet dongle? (a download link to this and what requirements I need to make this work would be appreciated)

In a similar vein, 'Serval Mesh' may be of interest. An app that allows voice calls with no infrastructure [ie no access points or mobile network] by putting your phone's wifi into ad-hoc mode. A bit beta-quality at the moment and requires root to run properly. No PTT yet, either.

it doesn't actually use channels or frequencies in a traditional radio sense. It just sends data over the mobile network, just like you would when you view a webpage on your phone, except the data is the output from a voice codec in this case. It just sends it over the internet so you can even talk through your computer on a broadband connection you don't need mobile internet.
