Sorcerer decoder
The December edition of Radiouser has an article about a decoding program called Sorcerer which looked very good. Included in the article were links to download the program. Unfortunately it now appears that the programme was a cracked Russian version of a piece of commercial software and the author of the article has withdrawn the links.
Did anyone manage to download this program before it was pulled or have any links to it?

Re: Sorcerer decoder
Thank you got it now
I tried that link before not realising it was being picked up by my anti virus software
switched the anti virus off and the program downloaded.

Re: Sorcerer decoder
It set the alarm bells ringing on my anti-virus aswell. I set it to allow the download and then scanned the file and it still came up as a trojan. Could be a false positive though so not sure whether to try it.

Re: Sorcerer decoder
I have not had chance to try it out yet, working away from home at the moment .
I still get the trojan and my anti virus software keeps quarantining the program.
It look like its supposed to work with a USB dongle and has been hacked.
It runs with my AV real time scanning switched off and does not appear to have a trojan but I would proceed with caution.

Re: Sorcerer decoder
Try Sanboxie.. http://www.sandboxie.com/
Free to use, it allows you to run software in a "sand boxed" safe enviroment
Also good if you are just trying some software, delete the sandbox and it is all gone,, unlike most unistall
programs that leave lots of "bits" all over the place..
Also if you where to use trail software you could delete and try it again as many times as
you want until you are happy it is worth your cash ;
Interested to know how you get on with Sorcerer... I think there are better decoders about, though it does do a lot more modes than most...
Though these days more and more modes are dying out, theres not so many new decodable modes these days?

Re: Sorcerer decoder
confirming the sorcorer binary linked here tries to fake some keyboard input and mouse movement - ive yet to get deep enough into the code to see what it does

Re: Sorcerer decoder
I downloaded the Sorcerer file and it seems fine to me. I've virus scanned it a couple of times now and it is negative.

Re: Sorcerer decoder
My antivirus software (McAfee) kept deleting the executable so I tried the program on an old laptop with out av and it works, managed to decode a bit of Stanag 4285 then I found this and intend to give it a whirl when time permits.

Re: Sorcerer decoder
Just unearthing this old thread to report that I recently installed Sorcerer and it seems to work well, although it does not have the hundreds of modes claimed. It handles RTTY, FAX and CW well and STANAG 4285 works well too, except that all the 'clear' stuff I've come across seems to be boring tests, strings of RY's etc.
Not found an SSTV decoder in it yet, so I use MMSSTV for that.
