BC75XLT / UBC75XLT and Scan125 Software

Post by scan125 »

I have some good news for you users of the Uniden 75XLT scanners.

Many of you have asked me to support your scanner with either my Scan125 Control Program or a similar program.

I have been unable to do so because I do not posses a 75XLT scanner. Whilst some have kindly offered to loan me their scanner (thank you) I have declined this because I could need the scanner for an unspecified period.

I'm now pleased to say a BIG thank you to Chris Taylor and Moonraker (UK) Limited who are sending me a UBC75XLT scanner so I can support you folk AND hopefully generate some new charitable donations to the DEBRA charity. As you know my software is free and fully supported (even at weekends) and many kind people have made donations to DEBRA.

I make no promises as to when the software will be available but I'm hoping we won't have to wait too long.

Well Scanner now received and test code already up and running.

This is going to be a challenge .......

Won't go into details at the moment but many of the Uniden 125 series of scanners functions are missing from the 75 series. Some examples are screen contrast and back-light functions, battery charging times, service search setting and in the scan channels then tag names, CTCS/DCS, delay times........thus far ..... are all missing. More not yet identified.

As expected the screen data is now confirmed as being totally different to the 125 scanners.

What is a little worrying is that with all these functions totally missing or deprecated then the basic Scan125 layout is going to be non functional so it is possibly looking that I'll have to create a new program altogether dedicated to the 75 scanners.

OK - decision made.

New program called "Scan75 Control Program" will be released for the Uniden 75 scanners.

The difference between the 75 and 125 series are sufficient enough that adapting Scan125 to handle the 75 scanners could easily result in Scan125 being destabilised for existing users.

Needless to say I will be endeavouring to give Uniden 75 series scanner users all the function and support that 125 users have.

Has been a while since posting so thought I should give an update.

Scan75 is a separate program to the 75XLT scanners.

The reason for the time delay in any Beta or formal release of Scan75 is that the only informatio I can get from the scanner is current frequency and modulation. The is not information about is a Channel Scan, Search Scan or Services Scan is in progress. This means I'm having to make large design changes to the Scan125 code base to support the 75XLT scanners.

An example of the challenges I face. On the 75 scanner you can be in Services Scan. There is not information as to if this is Airband, Marine, CB, PMR, ....

The scanner will show AIR, CB, PMR on it's display but this info is not available via the COM/USB port. This means I am having to develop a State and Sequential Logic system to try and work out where we are, where we have come from, and then using current frequency and modulation information try to replicate the scanners actual display.

The good news is that there is progress and development is progressing.
