Recommend me a new CB please
Hi all,
I was a member here a few years ago, but for some reason all my account details didn't work, but I'm back now.
I've just acquired a new car, an off road/4x4 thingy just for fun, and purely for looks I drilled a hole and stuck a nice big Sirio 5000 antenna on it.
I then realised that it would be a shame to waste such an antenna, and I fancy buying a CB again as I will be out and about on the hills quite a bit in it, and who doesn't like a Radio to fiddle with in the car!?
I had a browse of Ebay and a few sites such as Thunderpole, Knights, 4x4CB etc and I realised that there is so many radios available.
So please recommend me radios that I can use on UK40, Euro channels, and possibly 27.555
High power radio would be nice to have I suppose, but if that isn't available I suppose a little amp in the boot wouldn't hurt.
I will mostly be using it to chat around the country to my mates in tractors, and if the opportunity and weather allows, drive to the top of some hills and see if I can speak to some Europeans!
I do not have a specific budget in mind.
It would be good if the radio was a more modern looking thing, and in the easier to use side of things.
But all suggestions welcome!
Thank you

The later version Anytone radios seem quite popular and not too expensive for what you get. Also heard the 257 Magnums are quite good, but all this is what I recall people saying as I don't own anything like that personally.
I prefer the likes of Fidelty 1000's

Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.

Just bought an Anytone 6666
Watched a few YouTube videos and reviews and it seems like a good unit.
Nice and compact as well which suits me for the car it’ll be going in.

Sounds like me, nice and compact....not!
Well I'm glad you got one sorted.
I heard a bit of sidebanding going on yesterday when I was testing a couple of AM handhelds. You may get a bit of DX'ing done on it now and again. The solar cycle thing will be back in a couple of years and you'll be ready and waiting.

Well I did call it a "thing", so hopefully he's not been blown away by all my highly technical jargon!
I've never spoken to anyone on SSB so I'm certainly no expert on the subject. I'll stick to my Amstrads and Fidelity's
