Realistic Trc 3000 homebase CB
Have been looking online for info about the Realistic TRC 3000 homebase, and there doesn't seem to be a lot about it,compared to other 27/81 homebases, maybe due to less being sold/making them less popular sets ? Have to admit I do like the big meter. Thanks in advance
Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.

It's bland and has got so few buttons, no one ever wanted one back in the day, whereas the Midland Homebase for example was brimming with them.
I've seen them sell on ebay for as little as a tenner for an untested one (nearly bid myself as it was fairly local), but they usually go for about £20 - £25 plus postage. I'm not a fan myself.

Yeah I had one last year, I remember thinking it was unusual with an all plastic casing (face, top, bottom and sides) except for a wooden backplate. When you take the chassis out the whole thing slides out of the front of the casing. They're quite lightweight as well due to the mainly plastic construction. Mine seemed to work ok, nothing special about it though really, just a 40 channel vol/squelch affair.
Embrace your inner muppet !

The American Realistic homebases look much better and have more features. If you got one of those and added an FM board (if possible), that'd be a much nicer-looking radio.

There are not enough buttons and switches on a TRC3000 for a 148 but I always wondered if you could fit one inside a Fidelity 3000 base station.

I'd thought about doing that before now, but didn't want to ruin a perfectly good Fidelity
