You obviously still don't get it , and I doubt you ever will. It's got nothing to do with quality.

Strangely his other not as clean 148 isn't on private bids and only a one feedback bidder has shown interest.

Buick Mackane wrote: 21 Jun 2018, 14:34 Exactly craig exactly, Most of those old cobras have had more tools in them than a guest at a michael barrymore party, And the jentec mob are even worse, A fancy inlay and an auld eprom stuffed in them and its £500+

I'm not so sure i'd want CB'ers buying amateur gear, If i ever hear some clown shouting 40 a copy i'm handing my license in, :problem:
Have bought a few hf sets for use on 27MHz,but I just prefer using a CB radio for dx-ing,as hf amateur gear is meant to be used for worldwide dx,unlike a CB radio that some snobs say will only get you upto 15 miles, but its ok as some CB'ers have not been brainwashed to believe the man with all the gear knows better.
Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.

Joking aside, My point is that it amazes me why so many worship the 148DX On here when in this day and age you can get so much more for your cash, Christ for £400 bucks you can get radios that make the cobra look like a 1930's toaster,

But its up to the people who buy them what they spend their money on.

And i'm by no means trying to convert folk to amateur radio like sammyboy suggested earlier,

Just seems to me that theres a few on here with a kind of kinky obsession for auld cobras,

But whatever floats yer boat

With Craig on this as well.

Indeed for that money go and get an Icom 7000 and it will run rings around anything from that era. I had the best reports on the 7000 I used to run in the car on 11m FM whilst whizzing about the country, standard mic and all.

Back in the day my 13, 148 and Astatic I thought was the best thing ever - and spent loads on it. Even had a stupid Avanti power-stick on the car that with the gold silly amp was always giving me RF shocks. Best I ever worked was the states,

Now I look back and it just makes me smile! It would be like trading my S-Max for my Mk2 Escort I had then - utter madness. Rose tinted and all that.

Another one who doesn't get it . It's got nothing to do with running rings around anything . So what about your Escort ? There's a million better cars out there that'll run rings round that too . Would you all sell your classic cars and buy a new Golf ? No . Probably not . CB is exactly the same . The 148 is our Lotus Cortina , and the Icoms and Yaesus are Vauxhall Corsas .

If anyone else has any more HAM comments , then do us all a favour and post them in that section . We...., or me anyway , couldn't give a monkey's .
