Re: Decent price for a lincoln mk1
The one I have here now is a 1993 Philippines version with I think MRF477 (need to take the cover off)
Paid £95 for it. Its really good condition and has the original mic but no bracket.

Re: Decent price for a lincoln mk1
The 1993 Philippines version will be the 477 variant. It was a good few years after that when they began using the MRF455's due to the 477's becoming obsolete.

It is difficult to see the numbers on the trannies, but yes I am sure you are correct.
There is only one minor issue with it which I hope isn't something more serious developing (Like a CPU fault).
On SSB when you stop talking the S-meter stays at S7 with no audio going in, but there is no carrier being transmitted. If you dekey and don't say anything the meter reads zero, and only hangs at S7 after I have spoken.

No need to look for numbers . The 455 looks like this .Mudslinger wrote: ↑19 May 2018, 21:37

They're not difficult to spot
Mine is a 477 variant . The only 455 radio I had was a late 6 band Jackson .

In that case it is a 477, they look like regular small transistors with a very small PCB stuck in front.

Yeah . The smaller pcb in front of it is the later equivalent of the MV1Y .Mudslinger wrote: ↑20 May 2018, 10:19 In that case it is a 477, they look like regular small transistors with a very small PCB stuck in front.

Made in 2003 in the Philippines Laguna. I presume it's also a MRF455 model.Cornascriebe wrote: ↑20 May 2018, 12:02 I have one with the serial no. 03600187, any info appreciated.

Re: Decent price for a lincoln mk1
Those very late six band Jackson's were terrible quality. I had an older five band 477 version and the 455 version beside each other for comparison. In both build and performance quality the 455 radio wasn't a patch on the older model.cb4ever104 wrote: ↑20 May 2018, 09:57No need to look for numbers . Suffice to say the six band version was soon listed on eBay.

Re: Decent price for a lincoln mk1
I found that with the Jackson's too. The classic versions being the worst of the lot. Also the Chinese Grant classic wasn't great either.

Re: Decent price for a lincoln mk1
I only bought the Jackson to sell it on , so I never used it. Didn't have any issues with the Chinese Grant , although the "keeper" I have is a Philippines Classic.

Just sold a boxed Lincoln/bracket/power lead/manual and an Alan Master MM51 mic,all in g.w.o. and it was a chipswitched version,sold for £130.
Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.
