Decent price for a lincoln mk1

Post by robber57 »

I can buy a original lincoln mk1 in “factory state”, it still has the “waranty void” sticker unbroken on the lid, as i am told it has been lying in a box on a shelf for the last 15 years, it comes with the original powercord, mike and mikeclip and according to the seller fully functional.

The guy asks €135 which seems to me very reasonable?
Its on the other side of holland so a stiff 3 hour yourney to get there and 3 more to get back so i want to know if this is recomendable?
Imo it doesnt get any more better then this?

Ik know its gonna need a recap, cleaning and allignment but have a friend who can help me with that so i forsee no horrors down the line pricewise, i guess the recap will cost me an extra €50 euro in parts at the most?

Planning to pick it up tommorow or on monday so i hope someone can , more or less, tell me this is a ok deal

Radio is worth as much as buyer is willing to pay. Personally I wouldn't pay more than 100, no matter now pristine it is.
It needs align and some work, no doubt.

They had a long manufacturer run , so it won't necessarily need a recap. My boxed "keeper" cost me €150 with a boxed Zetagi meter , so around £100 is about what I'd pay . But they do still fetch a decent price as good ones are getting harder to come by.

I have had a couple of tidy ones within the last few months. One I paid £85 for and sold locally for £130, the other I paid £80 for and sold for £115 as it it wasn't as tidy as the first.

You can get them for reasonable money, but there is a lot of messed about with junk out there.

Lincoln's were first made in the late 1980's. The last were made in the early 2000's. There are several board revisions and the later models had an MRF455 output replacing the MRF477 which had been discontinued. If you get a latter model the chances are it wont need much attention, if any.

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

You should be able to bag a really good one with original mic and bracket (Some people sell them seperately) for around £120 or so.

Prices are probably going to continue to rise for good examples.

The earlier ones had LINCOLN on the front.

The later ones had LINCOLN

Note that the earlier one has italic "leaning" script

This one has the standing letters( not italic) so it will be a later model
Thanks for the info.
I am not sure if i will be able to pick it up tommorow, perhaps i will have it send to me in a parcel.

Well, its a nice one and appears to be almost factory, the waranty sticker is from avera the president importer who have done the channel expansion when it was bought new, i think i am the first one who sees the inside of the box in 15 years
As far i can see there is besides the channel expansion nothing screwed up and original but i am certainly not an expert so the here are some photos , i hope you guys can confirm that its a decent box.
Its the latest or one of the latest versions from > june 2000, the final is SD1446 ?, the mainboard i read pb-111AE ?
Tx audio on usb seems a bit muffled so it probably needs a overhaul/alignment.

I am trying to find info on the sd1446 final, if i understand correctly these where never originaly installed?
It should ALWAYS be a mrf455?
So this would mean that at some point the final was replaced?

I understand that it is, more or less, a direct replacement and can be installed without any further modding?
The little pcb it is mounted on appears to be original and is labeled uniden, the soldering on the transistor is neat, well flowed etc

I hope someone with knowledge can clarify this for me.

They used SD when mrf become obsolete.
Radio from pictures is one of latest produced. Honey pcb and plastic pots. Worst version imho.
I suggest to get rid of brown goo under linear regulators from pll board.

Even though there's a sticker with the date , the serial number confirms that it was made in 2000 , in the Philippines Laguna .
