President lincoln chipswitch price to high ?

Post by henry »

Hi guys,

I was going through my collection and had the "stupid" idea of cleaning a bit up.
A president lincoln with chipswitch installed in a very good condition was offered by me on our dutch local selling site.
After a while offers were made up to about 120 euro's, initially i was going to sell it for say 150 but would like to have more obvious hihi.

Then i took a second look...
120 euro's for such a fine piece....
Im not going to sell that..so instead:
I set my mind at ease ....it is worth that for me...and not going to sell.

That got me thinking...
Are the prices getting lower ? or is this version just not worth it ?

The same i have seen with some "collectables" here in The Netherlands..
Perhaps im just mistaking, but was wondering how u guys feel in general ?

Kind regards, H.

Hi Henry . Lincoln's are pretty cheap these days . Probably because there's no many of them . I can usually find boxed ones here in Spain for around €120 . The chipswitch will add a bit more to it's value . Maybe €30 more , to someone who actually knows what it is :)

This is not a real replacement of the Chipswitch to me. I had one and to me it is crap. Handling is a mess and in addition you do not have the full repeater channels on 10m FM. He told me some are out of the bandplan for our region therefore he did not program them. I sold my converted Lincoln shortly after I bought the chip.

Pity, that chipswitch adds too much pll noise to signal. Otherwise it would be nice addition.

Which one? The German one or the original ChipSwitch? I've never had or heard of problems with the original ChipSwitch.

Well, those ones in the picture sold on eBay USA. They give the HR2600s CB capability.

Yep they are sold chips - just a screen shot from a quick search I did on ebay USA. If you were to sell one you'd need to offer shipping to USA to achieve maximum interest from the sale. I wouldnt be surprised for a Rig with the chipswitch to fetch $300. That's what the hr2510's seem to fetch.

One day I will get hold of one to play with .
my son in law to be is one of the most dodgy and cleaver people I ever see on a pc. He was watching me fault find a pll issue asked what I was doing a briefly explained n-codes,after looking for two mins he said the 8 bit line was missing and could resite the frequency for any channel ......the git was right lol.he assures me and laughed when I asked about any type of micro processor encryption.also asked him about the password in a chip switch to have 15m 12m 11m 10m said that's no problem. Some thing for the future when I get time I guess

@Otter - original one. We measured that in mid 90's before and after.
@dt307 - CPU in Lincoln and similar is HD4074008. Maybe your son in law could create firmware better than chipswitch.

I really meant over here Tim . I'm trying to think how many people would pay £120 for one ?
