Collecting the complete Superstar range

Post by cb4ever104 »

Hi All .

I'm really not a collector (famous last words..) , but I do have a few Superstar branded radios and I was thinking about maybe trying to collect them all . The thing is that I seem to be finding more and more of them that I've never seen before . For example . We have this little "1700" . Looks like 3 bands of 40 AM only .

http://www.milanuncios.com/radioaficion ... 657381.htm

I'm sure there's a complete list of all of them somewhere in the net . Off the top of my head I can think of :

Superstar 1700 (See above)
Superstar 2000
Superstar 2400 (just picked one up)
Superstar 2800 (just picked one up)
Superstar 3000 (AM/FM job)
Superstar 3600 (clone of 3900)
Superstar 3900

Superstar 360 (old 1979 version)
Superstar 360 (newer version . Clone of 3900)
Superstar 360FM (mk1 and mk11)
Superstar SSB (home base)

Think that's me out . Are there more ?

Nah . That's cheating ! :)

Saying that , and after looking at the list , I think I'll cancel my plan to get them all :)

Thx

Sammy

PS Noticed that they don't have a photo of the 1700 , but they do have one for the 1740 . Whatever the f that is ... ?? :)

I've been looking for a Superstar 2800 for a long time and my automatic ebay search hasn't ever found one.

Hi sammy,

I wouldn't bother starting a collection. I few years ago I started collecting the president range of radios and got upto 80 Inc some really rare ones like the James k. But gave up as there's just too many different variants within the range. Ie 40ch am mid band thomas j and 80ch am/fm mid/hi band Thomas j.

I have a few superstars in my collection of radios.

Superstar 3900 hp e f
Superstar 3900 ghp
Superstar 3900 eft
Superstar 3900 silver
Superstar 3900f
Superstar g neptune
Superstar 9900
Superstar 2950 (same as rci 2950)
Superstar force one
Superstar 7000 dx
Superstar 4900b

That's funny Rob . You've got most of the high ones , and I've got the low ones :)

Anyway . You're right . Me personally . I would never have taken on the President range . I've seen them , and as you say the list is endless . I've got a few Superstars now as well . But I think you win .

Superstar 360 (79) x 2
Superstar 360 FM x 3 (1 mk1 and 2 mk 2s)
Superstar 3900 (87)
Superstar 2400
Superstar 2800

I have a few of yours , but they're badged Galaxy , or Jopix . Same radios though .
