Rama 40 (Multimode 2?)

Post by Mudslinger »

Just managed to bag this at a very cheap price, not heard of them before

It appears to be a rebadged multimode 2. Hopefully those decals will come off to reveal it's true identity. :)

Looks a good deal, get those stickers off.

Cheers, will post up pictures when it arrives.

It looks as though it may have the PTBM121 board rather than the PTBM059, but I can live with that due to the rarity value.

Claude, do you know if it has the Ham international decal on the back under the Paper Rama one?

No Problem Claude, depending on the condition of the sticker on the one I am getting I am likely to remove it.

The only problem is that removing stickers is sure to leave a mark, as the sticker will have protected the underside from the elements. Same with the front.

Either way for about £30 all in I think I got a reasonable deal. :)

A few pictures now she has arrived.

A few silly things wrong such as loose control nuts, but condition wise it is better than many you see.

Will give her a good facia-off clean later.

It's cleaned up very nicely.

As you said, far better than a lot of the munters you see.....

When you sort the TX out, that's a nice radio....

And still has the original HI beep fitted, that has to be worth the £16 asking price so the rest is a bonus, I'm not too sure about the DC input though, if you're planning on keeping it that way for any period of time then I'd get some hot-snot on there to protect from chafing.
You have made an excellent clean-up job, that looks pukka.

Yes it still has the bleep. I removed the extra power leads as they looked rubbish

Just need Nick to work his magic on it. :D
